Asante and the Webslinger stopped by the cave to have bru nch with us, paint our walls, and share some tasty melodies and bars.  Check out the video below:

Just a little nibble of what you might find at SpringFest. Roll through the diag during the day and you’ll find some white walls of your own to paint. Asante will be opening with Video 7 for Common on April 17th at Hill Auditorium. Get your tickets here. Artist Spotlight: James Fauntleroy

Artist Spotlight by: Neud Kiros

James Fauntleroy has been a model employee of the music industry. After writing for everyone from Britney Spears and New Kids On The Block to Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake, the latter of which won him a Grammy, Fauntleroy moved into features. He’s best known for appearing on Drake’s “Girls Love Beyoncé” and the GOOD Music hit “Clique”, but was also featured on J. Cole’s “Born Sinner” and Big Sean’s “World Ablaze” among other hip-hop/R&B songs. On top of all of this, he was part of four EPs under the collective Cocaine 80’s which includes No I.D., Common, and Jhené Aiko. But after paying his dues in the industry, Fauntleroy is ready to move into making his own music.

Album Review: The Endless River by Pink Floyd

British progressive rock band, Pink Floyd, holds the record for longest charting album of all time and second highest grossing album of all time. They pioneered the use of audio samples, synthesizers, multi-track mixing methods, and rock show lighting. Album Review: Piñata by Freddie Gibbs

By the time Freddie Gibbs tells you, “I don’t believe these rap n****s,” there’s something about his album Piñata that has you feeling equally as doubtful about the (other) major players in the rap game. There’s something inviting and enticing about every track on the collaborative album with Madlib; there’s something that brings you into Gangsta Gibbs’ world. He seamlessly paints a collective picture of a desolate, dog-eat-dog environment in Gary, Indiana that you somehow connect with it, despite having never been remotely close to the grisly descriptions of armed robbery, illicit drug sales, and murder. As the album progresses, these themes are delivered in stunning variety over a vast array of impeccable Madlib-manufactured beats that the listener never once thinks, “Did he say this already?”
